Arne Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Has The Club's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his future following another convincing defeat versus PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their ninth defeat in twelve matches, representing the team's worst streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league title holders on a tough evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I am OK, I've received a lot of backing from above,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and get a victory obviously but when you're working as a coach and struggling then it's expected that doubts arise.”

He added, “I am OK with my position. This isn't the first time I've found myself in a tough spot but it is about time that we turned it around.”

Conversations with The Board

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, Slot revealed:

“We talk a lot. They are helpful to the team and to me and those talks happen but they aren't calling me every single minute each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “Through standard conversations we have I feel the belief. However I haven’t spoken to them since this match so far so we'll see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Response

The manager expressed regret over known weaknesses from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, specifically wasted chances and conceding too easily.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more direct in his evaluation of the current crisis.

“I don’t have the answers. Honestly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” the midfielder remarked.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't need to wait to consider it. I’m past feeling anger inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the team I support. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Liverpool team enduring a period such as this with results so bad.”

Jones finished, “However we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we’re always going to compete.”

“We will attempt to help the side back to its rightful place, show everyone again what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the greatest side in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
