Assassin's Creed Unveils Surprising Attack on Titan Collaboration for Holiday Season
In a bizarre crossover event that defies usual predictions, the game developer has unveiled an in-game partnership between Assassin's Creed Shadows and the popular anime series Attack on Titan. The unusual holiday event continues from November 25 through December 22, offering complimentary extra story content for Shadows players.
Strange Questline Disclosed
According to the formal release, "A strange confrontation pulls characters Naoe and Yasuke into a fresh mission, where hints of prohibited ceremonies and monstrous changes reverberate through the obscurity." The narrative features a "strangely garbed woman named Ada" who assigns the pair with traveling into the Crystalline Cavern—a significant location from Attack on Titan—to rescue her companion from a clandestine group.
The questline focuses on "bizarre tests and a monstrous adversary" and is accessible to all players who have unlocked the Yasuke character.
Familiar Places and Transformations
The teaser features the Subterranean Sanctuary from Attack on Titan reimagined as the Crystal Cave. This important location was previously where the Reiss royal family handed down the Founding Titan ability through generations. The preview ends with a striking scene showing a character, presumably the captive, morphing into a Titan that towers over Naoe and Yasuke.
Unique Items and Extra Content
Players who successfully complete the adventure will receive an exclusive katana in addition to numerous objects concealed throughout the area in hidden chests. The update also includes purchasable Attack on Titan item packs, featuring:
- Titan-based attire for Yasuke
- Mikasa outfit for Naoe
- Exclusive arms
- Survey Corps mount
Third Free Story Update
This release also brings the game's newest free story episode, titled "A Puzzlement." This lighthearted quest pairs Naoe and Yasuke as they swap signature skills: Naoe introduces a dramatic interpretation of Yasuke's war kick, while Yasuke masters non-fatal stealth takedowns. Loyal to its name, "The Mystery" also contains a fresh environmental puzzle that may finally clarify some lingering questions from the main storyline.

This represents not the primary time the Assassin's Creed franchise has crossed over with well-known anime series. The series previously showcased a 2020 crossover story uniting Assassin's Creed: Valhalla with Makoto Yukimura's Vinland Saga. Moreover, Valhalla unofficially included a quest that obviously referenced the popular series One-Punch Man.
