People have assembled around the country to mark two years since the Hamas-conducted attack on 7 October 2023, as discussions proceeded in the neighboring country over an end to the conflict in the Gaza Strip.

The attack resulted in over 1,200 people losing their lives and 251 others captured away to Gaza as captives. It was the single most lethal day for the Jewish community since the World War II.

Israel responded by launching a military offensive in Gaza which has killed in excess of 67,000 people, based on figures from the territory's Hamas-administered health ministry. Its figures are regarded as accurate by the United Nations and other international bodies.

"The bloodthirsty enemies have caused great damage, but they have not overcome us," the leader added on Tuesday.

He also pledged to "accomplish all the objectives of the war: the return of all the abducted, the removal of the Hamas administration and the promise that Gaza will not create a risk to Israel".

Memorial Ceremonies Across Israel

The national leadership rescheduled official remembrance events until 16 October - after the conclusion of the religious holiday season - but ceremonies still took place around the country on that day.

A commemorative event for the relatives of Israelis who died in the Hamas attack was organized in the coastal city. Put together by the families themselves, it was aired on Israeli television channels.

Hours earlier, a silent tribute was observed around the country.

Ceasefire Talks in Egypt

At the same time, both sides' negotiating teams convened in the North African coastal city of the Egyptian city for a follow-up session of mediated discussions to review the conditions of the plan.

A prominent Palestinian official involved in the talks said that an evening round of mediated discussions commenced at evening in Egypt.

The source said the earlier meeting finished without concrete outcomes, amid conflicting views over the suggested Israeli retreat arrangements from Gaza and over assurances Hamas wants to make certain Israel does not restart fighting after the opening period of the arrangement.

He added that the negotiations are "tough and have not yet deliver any significant progress," but pointed out that mediators are working hard to narrow the differences between the two sides.

Key Points in Negotiations

  • An enduring ceasefire
  • The trade of the hostages still detained by Hamas for inmates from Gaza
  • The withdrawal of troops from Gaza
  • Arrangements for assistance deliveries
  • After-conflict management of the area

Citizen Reaction

In the city's Hostages Square that day, young Hagar - whose brother endured the attack on the gathering, where 378 people were lost their lives and many more were captured by Hamas fighters - told: "No location appears as home now and until all the hostages come back not a single person will have peace of mind."

"After we see all home again, we can relax anew. Then we can begin to heal," she concluded.

Near Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence in Jerusalem, people gathered to show their solidarity for the relatives of the hostages. Israel states 48 continue in detention in Gaza, twenty of whom are considered to be alive.

Activist one woman remarked: "We need do every compromise necessary for the hostages to be released. But we really want guarantees that we will be protected."

Opinion polls now frequently demonstrate that approximately seventy percent of the population prefer the conflict to finish in as payment for the freedom of the hostages.

Gaza Circumstances

At the area of the gathering, mourners assembled to honor the dead.

From that location, the boom of aerial bombardments and artillery could be noticed just a few kilometres away in Gaza, where local people reported the intense Israeli bombardment continued.

In the main city, attacks were noted in the early hours of Tuesday in the western Tal al-Hawa, Rimal and Nasr neighbourhoods and in the eastern district of that sector, as well the settlement to the northwest.

"As the night arrives, the fear arrives with it," evacuated Gaza City resident Emaan al-Wahidi, whose young son was lost his life by an Israeli aerial attack last year, shared.

"My family are fearful of the air strikes. All the night we are resting together, embracing, notably my smallest child who places his face on me the entire evening."

"Constantly we monitor the news to see developments. And I'm afraid that this ceasefire will not be finalized and that the conflict will resume to us."

Medical Crisis

The healthcare center in Gaza City announced it had received the remains of six people by the daytime, including several killed in an Israeli attack in the southern district.

Nasser hospital in the southern urban center of the city reported another two fatalities had been brought there. An individual was killed by Israeli forces while attempting to get aid to the south, medics stated.

The region's health ministry reported a significant number of the {territ
