Lando Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
The British driver has beaten his teammate at each of the last five race weekends.
The McLaren driver edged out fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who took the title advantage from Piastri by one point after taking the win in Mexico City recently, beat the Melbourne-born driver by a tiny margin of 0.023secs.
Earlier in the session, Piastri had been the quickest of the McLaren pair during the running before the sprint shootout due at 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the only other driver in the points battle, trailing 36 points Norris, ended up in 17th place as his team followed a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the only driver to have an incident, if briefly, when he lost control at corner four soon after starting.
The Japanese spun out over the track edges before sliding over the gravel trap, and was blessed to escape with just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, spinning around through the fast downhill corner leading to the last turn on to the main straight.
The veteran finished practice in 19th, trailing teammate Charles Leclerc.
The McLaren pair were well clear of the other competitors, with Nico Hulkenberg's car P3, 0.619secs off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from Mercedes' Russell and Alpine's Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
