Patrick Bamford Joins the Blades After Leading Abusive Chants About Manager Chris Wilder

Patrick Bamford has joined the Championship side only seven months following leading derogatory songs aimed at their manager, Chris Wilder.

This experienced forward, without a club since leaving Leeds, has signed a agreement joining the Championship club in difficulty through the winter. Bamford's seven-year spell with Leeds concluded amicably in August.

Among Bamford’s last memorable actions while at Leeds was to lead offensive chants regarding Wilder amid the club’s promotion celebrations this spring. Now, the former England international will feature under Wilder as the Blades’ manager aims to rescue the team he loves away from the drop zone.

Past Conflict Between Bamford & the Manager

Both men had previous conflict prior to Leeds earned promotion back to the Premier League last season and United were defeated in the promotion decider by Sunderland. Wilder called the forward as “a muppet” when the roles were reversed in 2018-19 and Sheffield United won direct promotion whereas Leeds United fell short in the promotion playoffs.

Making Amends and Moving Forward

Everything seems to have been resolved with Sheffield United, the Championship’s lowest scorers, in desperate need of improvement in attack and Bamford aiming to resurrect his playing days.

The Wilder chant gained traction this spring. A repentant Patrick and the Leeds manager, Farke, called Wilder the following day.

Wilder said at the time: “Spoke with Pat recently and I’ve no issue whatsoever with that. I'm uncertain about the words used from a fellow professional! But I valued and respected him calling me.

“We had a short while and the same again I talked with Daniel Farke as well and we had a half-hour chat with him and he is a super guy, a class act. When I was playing we would give it and take it and that’s an integral part of the game at every level, including a Sunday morning. I have no problem at all. I'm fine with the situation and I said that to Patrick.”

Latest Playing Struggles

The forward featured in 18 games with Leeds United last season but the former Nottingham Forest, Chelsea FC & Boro player has struggled with injury over the past few seasons.
